Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Indiana
Can a will include restrictions, such as a certain piece of property must go to a specific person after the first person to inherit it dies? Isn't it their property to dispose of as they see fit?

A will can include restrictions like the one you mentioned. For example, someone could leave a life estate in a house to Mary, meanng Mary gets it for her life, and then it goes to Joseph when Mary dies.

Generally, you can't pass on property with strings attached. But you can give someone a life estate (it's their property during their lifetime, but they can't give or sell it away) and then it passes to a second party when the first one dies.
