Legal Question in Disability Law in Iowa

Hostile work environment

I have missed some work due to depression and taking medication for this illness. My boss has been telling subordinates at work that I need to get my act together, that I am unstable and that I am digging myself a hole. What can I do about this as it creates a hostile work environment for me to know this is being told to my subordinates about my well being.

Re: Hostile work environment

If the employee has a disability that is classified as such in accordance with The Americans With Disabilities Act, then the employer must make a reasonable accommodation on behalf of that employee, as long as the employee can still perform the duties of that employment. If making unfounded critical comments has the effect of causing the employee with a disability to be impaired in the performance of their duties or causing the employee to suffer in other ways, then the employer may very well be in violation of certain civil rights laws.
