Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Iowa
Can I appeal civil lawsuit that I pleaed guilty to?
I was involved in a car accident in May '03 while I didn't have any car insurance and was suied by the other driver for his medical bills (in which the summary of charges that are included in the court papers say is not a bill, that Blue Cross Insurance was billed for total charges), and the price of the vehicle he was driving (which was in his father's name). I did send a letter saying I pleaed guilty but is there any way I can not owe him the money since his medical bills were paid for by his health insurance and the vehicle was not in his name? I'm not sure if this info will help at all but I was ticketed for no insurance and failure to yield right of way and he was ticketed for no insurance.

If you admitted the allegations there's little anyone can do to fix it now. I assume judgment was entered. Any time to appeal or file an amended answer is most likely past. You haven't stated when judgment was entered but there is but a short time to change your mind, so to speak.
