Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in Iowa
If someone leaves a household of belongs in someones garage for over a year they left state went to court in April and lost custody of her kids and was guilty of abandonment of the house and items, moves back and now she's taking anyone and everyone to small claims court for $4000 each, what is the law for leaving behind her stuff does she have any rights to them? She thinks if she sets up house shell get her kids back....she's now renting right next door from the ex whom has her kids .

Unfortunately, the property remains hers and nobody else is free to dispose of. Unless they specifically have a court order that dispossesses her of her property or someone can affirmatively show that she intended to abandon her property-which I doubt-nobody else has any rights in it. Not her ex, not her kids, not her mom and dad, not her friends. have any right to it. My advice? Make sure you file a timely answer, have your day in court and make your case to the judge.
