Legal Question in Banking Law in Iowa

The bank my boyrfriend banks at lost $283 out of his account, when he went in to see what was going on the lady told him he was the one who withdrew it, and so he asked for a print out of the transactions and if he could sit and watch the cameras for the transactions he doesn't remember doing. She refused, and called the cops on him for being "disorderly" i guess was what she reasoned, he was on his way out the door and another customer had tackled him to the ground. The cops arrived, asked if he wanted to press charges on the guy who tackled him and he declined. He called the bank's corperate office and they sent him a copy of the transactions and had him circle the ones he doesn't remember doing and a picture of himself with.

Thats the base of the incident, now their corperate office is talking about a settlement and I guess my question is how would you come up with a resonable amount for something like that? Where would you look to find previous cases and how much they were awarded? Those sort of things....

I don't have any idea of how you'd get that information. Let them make the first move-although it would be to your advantage to hire an attorney. Of course, he declined to press charges so the 'assault' wouldn't carry much weight.
