Some weeks after you deposit it in your account and wire money to your "friend" you'll find out the check was counterfeit and you'll be on the hook to the bank for all the money.

Think about it for a minute. Why does your friend not contact her employer to do a direct deposit? They have legitimate banks in Africa, you know. The answer's simple-you're being conned and I suspect that this 'friend' is someone you met online.
