If I file bankruptcy and decide to marry later, will my spouse's credit be effected? And how?

Re: Bankruptcy & Marriage
I am not licensed for your state, the following is general info only.
Your spouse's credit will not be adversely affected on applications for spouse's individual credit; however if you apply for joint credit your bankruptcy will be an adverse factor.
In some cases if you take your spouse's name the bankruptcy may not show on some credit reports, but I would not necessarily rely on that.
Before taking the plunge, visit with Consumer Credit Counseling, a non-profit credit assistance company. They can help, and even if not, it will help you prepare what you need for the bankruptcy.
Re: Bankruptcy & Marriage
You are not marrying your intended's credit report. However, you may want to keep your finances separate and each agree as to which household bills each will pay.
