Fundraising
I know someone who runs a daycare operation out of her home. She makes a pretty good living doing so. She is currently going door-to-door selling cookie dough, etc. as a fundraiser to purchase toys for her daycare and to fence in her back yard for the daycare children--name removed--The products she is selling are similar to the items children at schools sell during fundraisers (i.e. selling candy, cookie dough, etc.). Is that legal? I thought you had to be a non-profit organization to sell items like that and she is not non-profit.

Well, supermarkets, mega-marts, and convenience stores sell candy and cookie dough, and they are certainly not non-profit entities. I am certainly not giving the day care owner legal advice that this is ok without getting more information, but I can tell you that it is certainly not illegal for for-profit organizations to sell candy.
