Legal Question in Business Law in Iowa

jury duty compensation

I received $30 for appearing for one day of jury duty. I was gone from my job for 1 and 1/2 hours and my employer paid me my regular salary ($19.80) during the time I was gone. Now my employer says I have to reimburse him the entire amount of $30.00. I say I only owe him $19.80. Who is right? If I only pay him $19.80 can he deduct the balance from future paychecks?

Re: jury duty compensation

Most employer's allow you to keep the pay, but require you to reimburse them for the amount of the jury duty pay minus the parking charges you incurred. UnAmerican!
