Legal Question in Business Law in Iowa
If the retail company I work for has a policy of not wanting to receive any complaints from its customers, and to acheive that end it tells its employees to do what ever it takes to make the customer happy and make the customers complaint go away. This includes giving the customer a free instore $50.00 dollar gift card or if the customer want he can get free merchandise or free tailoring or extra discounts on his merchandise.
My question is this. Would this be considered a bribe on the part of the salesperson? And if the customer excepts the gift would the customer be committing a crime by excepting this bribe? Also would the company be involved in a crime by promoting its personel to provide the bribe in the first place?
