Legal Question in Business Law in Iowa
Termination of contract
I have a contract signed 1-12-1999 for high speed internet access. Over the past 5 months, our access was limited due to por performance on the lines. This contract was automatically renewed every 12 months. Now that I want to terminate this contract due to unacceptabe performance for 5 months, and no solution from the provider, they want me to pay 90 days more to get out of the contract. Is this legal, since they did not provide the services the contract was for?

Re: Termination of contract
The question whether they can do this is not 'legal' or 'illegal'. They did it, and there's probably weasel words in the contract that let them. If you're prepared to have your credit ruined and get involved in a small claims court battle, don't pay them.
