Legal Question in Business Law in Iowa
Workers Comp Insurance
I own a seasonal business that is only open June-August, I employ 3 part-time employees. Do I have to carry workers comp insurance? Where do I find a carrier that just does seasonal businesses with less than 2100.00 in wages.

Re: Workers Comp Insurance
The subject is rather complex, but if they are agricultural workers they are generally exempt. Otherwise you are probably obligated to purchase coverage. I suggest you review chapter 85 of the Code. Have you considered converting your employees to independent contractors?
