Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa
I was discriminated against by the city of Dubuque
My company Maid For You was hired to clean city hall in Dubuque. The city people refused to run background checks on my African American employees and they would not allow my white employees to work due to criminal records that were 16 years old. I reported the city to the human rights commission. They cancelled my contract. I filed a complaint with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. They found in favor of the city because the city lied to them and told them they terminated my contract because I charge too much. They allowed me to work (not my employees) for 8 months and didn't complain one time as to how much I charge. I was retaliated against because I went to the human rights department. What can I do about this? Our rights were violated.

Re: I was discriminated against by the city of Dubuque
I think the key here is your allegation as to why they terminated your contract. Your question is really one of contract law and the city breached the contract, whether that was right or wrong I don't know. I would suggest that you retain counsel to get the benefit of your bargain with the city.
