Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa

I had a friend who said she knew a professional baseball player through other friends and that we should start talking through texting. He told me he couldn't call because his phone conversations could get hacked into. I had been texting him for almost two in half years now. Went to a baseball game of his, and kept up to date. I recently found out that it was not him I was talking to this whole time. My friend set me up and i am guessing with another phone she had used her own number and was pretending to be him this whole time. I am just curious if there is any good reason I could take her to court? Or if the best answer is to just let it go. - I am not sure what area of law this would appeal to, if any.

The purpose of courts is twofold-to punish criminal offenders and to make people whole who have been damaged. How have you been damaged and what dollar value can you prove?
