Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa

I have guardianship of my grandchildren but their mother is approached by dhs- can they remove childen from my guardianship?

I have guardianship of my grandchildren and they reside with me. Their mother is now pregnant and was using meth until she realuzed she was pregnant. When she realuzed she qas pregnant she was already 5 month along.

Im concerned because Ive heard that they will discover when the babys born she had previously been using and will get involved in her life.

These children do not live with her she has her own residence. Will this affect my guardianship or her children that are with me in anyway?

Does this give them permission to investigate and hassle me for something I have nothing to do with? Should I be concerned about anything or take any precautions? Whats the best way to protect my grandchildren from tbis situation? Am I oing to be on "trial" now?

Do you have actual physical court ordered custody of the grandchildren? Does anyone else have rights such as parental rights?

With all due respect the mother sounds like a trainwreck and you will have to choose where your loyalties lie, and your duties legal and otherwise to the children under your roof.

That's not a legal issue.

Your involvement with the mother will be problematic for both you and the DHS if you have been enabling mom to be.If the department gets involved in her life you can expect to be part of the proceedings.
