Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa

Live in Iowa. My ex has custody of our 15 yr old daughter. 6 months ago she let my daughter move in with my parents. No official paperwork was filed to give all rights to them. My ex has not spoke to, inquired about or visited our daughter since the move. Issues happened at my parents and my daughter is now living with me. My ex is signing everything over to me. The real problem is my parents have refused to allow my daughter to get any of her belongings from their home. She only has what she was wearing that day. Its been a week. They have went back and forth in saying she can get her belongings to refusing to they took everything to Good Will. We have requested to only get belongings that she moved into the home NOT anything they may have bought. What can I do so she at least has her school clothes.

So it sounds like a clothing problem plus a fight with your parents over some clothes. Buy new clothes for her. She'll thank you for it.

Realistically what I would be more worried about is the fact that the child is living with you yet you have no custodial rights. That could end at any time your ex changes her mind. Not to mention the fact that the kid may well start to think that she's a football in a family drama. That's not good. Home should be safe and permanent.

Do you really want to kick that sleeping dog?
