Manager arrested for sexually harassing my daughter
1 month (Dec. 2004)into her first job at a major chain restaurant my 16 yr old daughter was sexually harassed by her shift manager. Besides making comments, constantly asking her to flash him etc, he pushed her into an office, locked the door, pulled his pants down and tried to force her to her knees. 3 other employees were harassed by the same manager. No one complained to anyone else (my daughter ended up telling a friend, who told his father, who called the police). My daughter was never given an orientation nor did she ever recieve an employee handbook. No one speaks of the situation at the restaurant to this day. The shift manager was arrested/charged and will go to trial in August. The restaraunt fired him after they were told of the harassment by a detective. I filed a complaint with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission. Should I get a lawyer even though I've filed a complaint with the CRC? Can I file a lawsuit against the harasser himself? I am so very angry that she has had to go through this. She feels embarassed and humiliated, doesn't want to talk about anything that has to do with the situation. What can I do to pursue the harasser outside of criminal court and the restaraunt if the CRC doesn't want to take it on?

Yes. You absolutely need an attorney to represent you in this matter. It is far too involved for a lay person to be able to adequately protect their rights and understand their responsibilities.
