Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa

religion in the workplace

I work for a company who operates 2 gas stations. It is a small local family owned company. The problem is that the owner is extremely religous. The handbook for the company makes many different references to christianity, and every chistmas, with the gifts given out is a long letter that is very religous based. The employees at the company have made reamrks about how this is somewhat uncomfortable to them, though most are christian. The owner holds private religous acts and services in a company owned office in the back, though it is closed to the rest of the store. Religous talks have also taken place in the store between the owner and customers they know. There is always a presence of their religion in the workplace, though they never actually pressure people with any of it. I need to know if theis is considered religous discrimination because some poeple are not christian who work there?

No. The overall atmosphere may be obnoxious (to you), but that doesn't make it discriminatory.

You have to have something taken away or denied as a result of not being that particular sect for it to be discriminatory.

Merely "uncomfortable" means that finding another job is probably a better idea.
