what are my right's as a renter ?

my ? is , my landlord is tring to put the screw's to me!when i moved in the house,she was supposed to have arental agreement ready for me to sign, that didn't happen for 4 months, i moved in the last of sept.{was suppose to be for 6 months to a year}i've never signed a lease agreement! she sent it to me by e-mail,me and my wife got back togather ! and that's when shit hit the fan, my land\lord charged ,me 200.00 dollars for november, for my wife staying here. for 1 day in nov. on the 11th. of dec.she collected 200.00.she said that was for nov. then she came back the 23rd of december for 200.00 more for dec.for my wife being here!!we had an agreement that i would work on the house for my deposit and so on! the electic wasn't on in all of the house , i worked on the house, had 40 plus hours , then she tells me that, i have to pay the electic hooked up, for my deposit. so i gave her a bill for the work i had done!! it cost me 280.00 for the elect. to come in ! so if you can tell me my rights i would be forever greatfull!!!! she said i was bound by the lease she e-mailed me !!!! then she said she didn't want to contine renting to me, was going to serve me with a 30 notice. ididn't get till the the 13th. shes i've got to be out the22

Unless you've got a written agreement that allocates this stuff, you're pretty much out of luck. Hate to say it but that's about how it looks from here. Tenants don't have any rights in Iowa.
