Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa
Possible Small Claims Civil Lawsuit
My fiancee and I paid all of our desposits on our apartment and our roomates are moving out 9 months early, we have a busted out window, stained and torn up carpets and chips in our walls, can we legally get our money back for the deposit and whatever we will be charged over that $400 for?

you can sue them in small claims court but that wouldn't accrue until you move out and are debited by the landlord. So by the time you get the right to sue them the opportunity may be long gone.
