Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa
Subpoena, serving to a minor child
Is it inproper, not ethical and even illegal to give a 12 yr old child a subpoena intented for a family member. What are the gidelines process servers are to follow
Child was ask if person was home, what was his name and relationship, handed documents and told to give to person they were asking for. No request for child to call an adult or for child to call an adult for direction.
I have no problem following the request but I don't feel that there was any real attempt to contact me. Just a findalbe address where someone was home, got a name and dump thier job on a child to finish.
Main question, is it legal to sevre a subpoena this way?

Re: Subpoena, serving to a minor child
The answer is yes. Service is complete on delivering a copy of the document to the person's last known address by leaving it with some person of suitable age and discretion residing therein.
