Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Iowa
I witnessed a police incident the other day that I felt needed to be recorded. An officer was using profanity and screaming at some kids. When the officer saw that I was recording he stomped over to me and told me I didnt have permission to film him and if I didnt turn it off I would go to jail.
Is that true?
Is it legal for me to record police officers without their consent in Iowa?

If what's happening is in public, you can record (I assume with a camera phone), but you have to be ready for what comes next. You might be charged with something or other for interfering in a police affair, and you'll have to go to court and get a lawyer and try and talk your way out of it.
