Legal Question in Construction Law in Iowa
The builder of my home installed a 1in. water meter instead of a 5/8in. meter unknown to me until now 5yrs. later. I understand these meters are installed solely for the builder to recoup his expenses faster. Would I have a valid case to sue them in small claims court for the extra amount I paid in service charges for this meter over 5yrs? I estimate it to be around $2000.00

You could, but there seems to be an awful lot you would have to prove. I think that part of that proof would be that you instructed the builder to install a 5/8 meter and they did not comply. Unless this was a custom built home and/or under contract before the water meter was installed, you don't have a case because you accepted the property as it was.
