Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa

Car fails after one week from dealership

Hi, I bought a used car at the dealership last week and now the tranmission failed and needs to be replaced. It has limited warranty (2000 miles) and the contract states that everything is covered, but dealer pays only 50% of repair cost.

When i bought the car, i asked for a inspection report but they seemed to stall and said that they were looking for it and will email me a copy asap. I still haven't received anything from them.

Since the car is still pretty new, about 26000 miles, i figured there wasn't going to be anything wrong with it. Now it needs a new transmission which is gonna cost $4000. Is there anyway that I can get them to pay for all the expenses involved? or am i still liable to pay half under the contract? If they still insist i pay half, should i take this to court?

You may be covered by the original vehicle warranty. There may be a lemon law violation.

If you believe you were defrauded, you have that action, and should consider sending a 93A consumer protection letter to the dealer.
