Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa
Charged Over 3 Times More than Estimate
I was given a phoned estimate by the lawn care company that does my fertilizer applications, etc.,of $85-90 for fall leaf yard cleanup. The job was totally satisfactory, but today I received an invoice for $270, approximately 3.5 times the estimate! (I did receive a written estimate last January for spring cleanup for $85., so the verbal estimate seemed consistent.) What recourse do I have, and what action do you suggest?

Don't pay it. Call the owner and explain. If he disagrees, tell him that he can try his bill with a judge.
