Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa
Contract law
I got cable tv 4 1/2 mos. ago. Since then I have lost my job and took a job for much less money. I can barely stay afloat with a mortgage and car payment. The cable co. wants to charge $300 for disconnecting due to the 18 mos. contract I had to sign.

Re: Contract law
Since you did not ask a question, I can only guess that you want to know if you are responsible for the $300 fee. The answer is yes if that is what the contract you signed provided. You may also be required to pay attorneys fees, court costs, and interest if they have to sue you to collect.
