Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa
Daycare Deposit
I paid a deposit of $280 for daycare prior to starting. I never received a receipt and the provider's handbook, which I had yet to sign, never mentions deposits and when they are or are not refundable. A week prior to taking my child to this provider, circumstances changed for me and I no longer needed daycare. The provider is refusing to refund my deposit due to last minute notice. Does this provider have the right to withold my refund?

Re: Daycare Deposit
It may depending on the circumstances. The provider should have had some agreement for you to sign that should have discussed this.
You can always file a small claims action in district court.
