Legal Question in Consumer Law in Iowa

Paid for services not received

In July I paid for 6 treatments of electrolysis. I have an upcoming appointment, and found out the place went out of business. I have only recieved 2 treatments. I do not have a receipt, just a bank statement when they deposited my check and an appointment card. Is there anything I can do to get reimbursed for the treatments I did not receive? I have no way of contacting this business since they are gone and failed to inform me they were going out of business. Do I need to hire a lawyer? I just want to be reimbursed and feel that is fair. Thanks.

Re: Paid for services not received

from the facts given, you are definitely within your rights and entitled to a refund based on breach of contract. just because this company went out of business, does not mean it filed bankruptcy. thus, they would still be liable for your advance monies paid for treatment services never received contractually. therefore, you can either try to personally locate the principals/propreitors of the now defunct business at issue, or you may want to SERIOUSLY enlist the help of an attorney to efficiently and effectively investigate and/or locate the liable parties for you. thereafter, upon successful investigative location, you or your attorney will be able to send a legal demand letter for your refund, or pursue the matter in small claims. if you would like very affordable legal assistance in this unfortunate matter, contact us today.
