Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa
My 14 yr old freshman's high school will not tell me the title of the book she checked out due to privacy laws, but say that I am responsible for the replacement charges. What law prevents them from telling me what she checked out, and can you legally charge someone for something "unknown" like that? She's too young to be held responsible contractually, correct? And I'd like to know what I'm
paying for. I'm inquiring on principle and curiosity.

Maybe your fourteen year old ought to tell you. The policy is probably to prevent people who want to censor libraries from finding out what books kids are checking out.
