Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

Capital One & collections

Back in 2000, Capital One charged off my account. However, they still collected interest on the account. Now, they have turned this account over to a collection agency & are still collecting interest. When I was talking to a refinance company last night, they didn't think this was legal.

Can a credit card company continue to collect interest on an account when it has been turned over to a collection agency?

Re: Capital One & collections

Sure they can. You agreed to pay interest when you signed up for the credit card. That obligation does not stop merely because you stopped paying them.
