Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

Credit Card debt

12 or 13 years ago, my son had a credit card debt, but doesn't remember

amount owed or if it was paid off. They have not contacted my son or sent any

notification until last week. He received a letter from the credit card company

and wants payment of $1,800 and they would accept $900 if payment was made

right away. He is going to ask for a itemized statement of charges, but is there

a time limit of asking for payment? It seems strange that they had waited this

long to ask for payment.

Re: Credit Card debt

I suggest you consult with legal counsel. I am not an attorney authorized to practice in your state. However, I strongly suspect that the time for enforement of any claim has long expired. However, you must review this will local legal counsel. Gerald Hershenson
