Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa
My husband and I are trying to go through the process of getting a loan to buy a house. My credit appears to be really bad. When I was younger my brother tricked me into taking out a student loan which he then spent all 5,000 of it. He also ran up a electric bill in my name 4,000 dollars worth. He told me he could have it switched from my name to his once the power was on. He also ran up a cell phone bill to over 1,000 dollars, is there anything i can do to get this things in his name and off of my credit report?

That's not really a legal question. Without knowing all the facts that are involved it would be difficult to say what is going to fix it. You'll have to wait a few years for it to recede into the background. One thing you can do is pay off the student loan because that'll never go away even if you file bankruptcy. I would suggest you contact a credit counselor and see what you can do.
