Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

judgement

we went to check on getting a loan today, found out there is a judgement on the house that we own.

it is on a credit card we are paying on that we agree to payment. So that way it never went to court the payment arrangement kept it out of the courts.

can they still put a judgment on the house

thank you for your time and help.

Re: judgement

Something is not right here. I can pretty much guarantee you that there is no judgment against your house. If anything, there may be a judgment against you, and the judgment lien attaches to any real estate you own. If it was "kept out of the courts," there would be no judgment against you, and therefore, no lien against your real estate. So, either the credit card company lied to you about not suing you, or someone is not explaining the lien to you correctly. If the credit card company did sue you, you should have received notice from the court of the pending lawsuit.
