Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa
Judgement
I have recieved papers from the clerk of court notifying me of a judgement filed against me by a band of lawyers representing the bank of america regarding $3,782 in neglected credit card debt. I must reply within 20 days of the this judgement (which was filed on June 9th, 2008), or the decision will default to the Bank of America. What's the best thing I can do? I don't want garnished wages or liens. I don't want to make a deal with these lawyers and fall through one of the loopholes they know about.

Re: Judgement
Is the debt valid?
If so, can you make payments?
If not, you have 3 choices:
1) FIle Bky
2) Disappear
3) Hire atty to negotiate discounted arrangement.
Re: Judgement
I do not practice law in your state but I STRONGLY suggest you get a lawyer! I defend these cases in Alabama and the lawyers may not have ANY paperwork to show at court, no witnesses and the Statute of Limitations may apply. GET A LOCAL LAWYER! Or check out NACA.net
Good Luck!
