Judgment Filed Against Me

I owe almost $7,000 to a company. I wasn't paying my bill and it got sent to be dealt with by lawyers. I contacted the lawyers who it was with and agreed to make monthly payments on the money I owe. They sent me a letter in the mail explaining that I have made an agreement to pay it off, and they wouldn't take further legal action. But the letter also said that since the suit has been filed they will still file a judgment against me. What does this mean? Does that basically mean they will garnish my wages, etc. if I fail to make the monthly payments? I'm really confused. Or will they still garnish my wages even though I'm making payments?

Honestly, that makes no sense. Either they are taking no further action, or they are going to obtain a judgment against you. They cannot do both. You should check to see if they are licensed in the state in which you live, and do a little reading on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
