Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

I owe a propane company 200.00. I am unemployed right now after 34 years with the same company due to company downsizing. The propane company charged me a 25.00 late fee the 1st time then the next month it went up to 50.00 and now the last 2 months they have added 75.00. Now my bill is 450.00. I tried to talk to the owner and he is very rude and is going to remove my propane tank.
