Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

I want to pay off charged off loans, I need legal help to negotiate the best lump sum payment. with a debt collections service, I need the best deal so I can pay off other debts, I can't deal with debt collectors, and I can't say I am selling my house. Even If I talk to them I have no way of knowing the debt is paid in full. Can I have someone negotiate a lump sum, then I make payment after house sale. Some of the money is to pay mother, and since I'll be living there soon. I would like to pay her.

Lawyers do this all the time for their clients after a personal injury suit is settled. Hire a lawyer to do it and pay them a contingent fee base on what is saved from what is owed. Make sense?
