Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa
Did not receive last statement on credit card
I financed LASIK surgary thru Unicorn Financial (now Chase) for 18 months. I recived and paid every single payment on time. Then I found out that I did not receive the last stament for the final amount (which was less than the other 17 payments) Anyway, now they want to sock me over $800 for interest owed on the $4300.00 I financed. I was told that they do not have to send out statements and I must pay over $800 even though I only owed $191.00. It seems very fishy to me that I received all statements but the last one and why would I make all the payments on time for the full amount and stick them on the last payment. CRAZY. What can I do this is insane and a slimy wayfor the CC company to get more money. Please help

Re: Did not receive last statement on credit card
I agree, this sounds like a slimey way to scam money from people. It is tricky though. If you do not pay them, they will certainly put this on your credit report. I would think that if you could get this in front of a judge or jury, they would agree that you had a course of dealing with this company, and they essentially changed the rules at the finish line. So bottom line, I think you have a fairly good case, but it depends on how much time, risk, and energy you want to put into it.
