Is there a statute of limitations on an old debt?

Is there a statute of limitations on an old debt? We have been receivine harrassing phone calls from a collection agency over a debt from my husbands first marriage, over 20 years ago. Is there anything I can do to make these people leave me alone?

Yes- there Statutes of Limitation on debt, depending on type of contract and state of origin.
