Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Iowa

I have been told verbally as well as through many text messages that someone owes me $325. Are the text messages considered an admission in court? Many of the text messages say "I will pay you" "I am sorry, I will pay you back". He never showed up to pay, kept lying about coming. I plan to file a small claims suit for the $325. Will this be a waste of my time and money?

A question of equal importance is, if you sue him and win, will you be able to collect? A judgment will not put the money in your pocket. It will be up to you to find assets, garnish wages, etc. You will also need to pay the court filing fee and service fees in advance. If you win, the individual who owes you money may be responsible for those costs, but, again, you have the collection problem.
