Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
In 2003 I was cited for an Iowa City ordinance violation. Is this a crime or an ordinance violation. Should I list it on applications for employment? Will this show up on an employment background check?

Your question is not easily answered. Depending upon the violation, its probably listed on Iowa Courts On-line, which you could review. Technically, a speeding ticket or anything of that nature is considered a criminal act because it is suspectible to punishment, i.e. a fine.
