Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
When I was 17 my parents had committed me for two weeks to a mental institution for behavioral issues. Nothing to do with drugs or any sort. However I was a minor and released two weeks later. Now I am twenty years old and have been going to college for the past two years trying to be a cop and I was wondering if this previous incident would have any effect on my career choice?

It depends. If you were adjudicated as mentally ill, you might well be a prohibited person as far as firearms are concerned. I suggest that you obtain the complete file and make sure that this does not present a bar to your possession of firearms.
