17 year old girl threatened with 25 yrs prison

A good friend of mines daughter was threatened with 25 yrs in prison for breaking into the house she had been staying at(her boyfriends house). She got into a fight with a girl that was sleeping with her boyfriend who's baby she is having. Her defence attorney and the prosecuter told her the same thing for a month. I kept telling her in front of a jury the case wouldn't stand up. There was no proper investigation done and she has witnesses that says she lived there even thought her boyfriend and his dad turned against her. Now her defense attorny(public defender) has talked her into signing a plea for 6 years in prison. Is there an ethics committee for these public defenders that can make sure they are doing their jobs correctly. Is there anything that may be able to help here.

Thanks for your time

What you've described is robbery, second degree and it is indeed a 25 year sentence. A trained pony could make that case.

You might want to think this through. Suppose your friend listened to you and went to trial in this case and got 25 years instead of six.

I suggest you leave legal advice to trained professionals.
