Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
My 18 year old son in Iowa was arrested for 3rd degree burglary and 1st degree theft;currently out on bail. If the folks he burglarized tell the police they don't wish to press charges does it all go away?; or is it now out of their hands? Thank-you.

The final decision is always for the prosecutor. Some prosecutors will listen to the wishes of the victims, others will not.
