Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
if you agree to a plea agreement of 1 yr probation and 2 yrs of suspended time, are the courts able to then change your probation time to 2 yrs without informing you and after you signed the plea stating 1 yr?

Yes. The Court does not have to follow a plea agreement. A plea agreement only binds the prosecutor as to his/her recommendation to the Court. The Court can impose any sentence within the bounds of the law.
