Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

Hi there, I'd appriciate so much any feedback you would give me on this issue i am having... I must give you the history and details, as it is somewhat complicated, as most of them are, I'm sure... Okay, my husband and I have been married foe nearly ten years. We have two children togerther as well. Two and a half years ago, he was caught trafficing drugs in Illinois and charded Federally with traficing and conspiricy. He is in the process now, of being convicted, sentanced, etc and is currently on pretrial release at a state correctional halfway house in Iowa (we reside in Iowa). This is his first offence. He has a P.O. both a for the Feds in the state of Iowa, as well as, in the halfway house. Recently, I was arrested for delivery of drugs (first offence and small amount) and I am now in the process of being charged, convicted, etc. NEITHER his Federal P.O. or my pretrial P.O. has told us we cannot see eachother or live together when he is able to FURLOW (leave halfway house to merge back into the community and society) and/or when he gets out. However, his in halfway house P.O., says he isn't allowed to see me all of a sudden and that his word is, as good as, a no contact order served from a judge. As I mentioned befor, we have kids together and we'd like to be able to see/be with eachother. We realize we have both made big mistakes, but are trying to move on with our lives and not disrupt our children's lives anymore than they already have been. Please, could you shed some light on this situation, in any way? I'd greatly appricite it! Thank you so much, in advance, D.

Your husband has to live by the rules and regulations of the halfway house and his parole officer. I am going to assume that the reason your husband's parole officer is saying that he can't have contact with you while he's in the halfway house is because you are dealing with your own felony drug charges presently. You could get a lawyer and try to challenge his authority, but the best course of action is probably for both of you to establish a clean and sober pattern of living and otherwise full compliance with all laws and rules of supervision.
