Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

I was arrested for domestic abuse against my ex husband..I plead guilty to the charge because my lawyer at the time told me it would help with my nursing school so it was suppose to be deferred. Now im at a point in my life where I need a job and my background checks are coming up sayin domestic assault but dont say anything about it being deferred??Type your question here...

If the judgment was, indeed deferred, you can say legitimately you have never been convicted of domestic abuse. However that information is supposedt to be kept in the deferred judgment docket and is only available to certain law enforcement agencies.

Having said that, the DCI keeps that information active, and when you apply for a job and sign a waiver which is almost always the case they will release it to the people vetting you for your job.
