Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa

i was arrested in 1993 for domestic assault and criminal mischeif, case was pled down to criminal mischeif 3rd degree, and disorderly conduct. have been recieving my permit to purchase pistols and revolvers until 2 years ago the sherrif said the law had been changed and i am no longer allowed to obtain a permit to purchase anymore , how do i get my right to obtain said permit back . also am i in violation by being in possesion of the firearms i purchased when i legaly had obtained my permit ?

It depends on what you were convicted of, and whether there's a domestic violence petition or order that is currently in effect. I would suggest you contact an attorney to review your case and determine whether the sheriff is right or wrong.
