Legal Question in Criminal Law in Iowa
Arrested! No Warrant! Planted Drugs! Police Discrimination
I was with my girlfriend in her elderly mothers apt. She and We were moving new furniture into the apt, as a surprise for her mom. Mom was on vacation at her elder sons home. The police came to the door saying there was a warrant for failure to appear on 2 year old case. Mind you I'm still on probation for that 2 year old case. We both asked to see the warrant. The police would not show us anything. I was thrown on the floor and handcuffed. I asked for my medicine in my pants pocket. Mind you, they had already searched me. One officer went into the back room and grabed a pair of womens pants off the floor. He came back holding the pants and a small baggie, he said was marhihuana. I was arrested and my girlfreinds elderly mother was evicted. There is so much more. Please respond.

Re: Arrested! No Warrant! Planted Drugs! Police Discrimination
Are you sure you did not miss a court date or an appointment with your PO? That is usually the source of such a warrant. They did not have to show you the warrant at that time. The police will say you resisted being handcuffed. At that point a search of the premises was facially legal and when they found the marijuana that sealed your girlfriend's mother's eviction.
You need to make an appointment to see a criminal defense lawyer at your earliest opportunity.
