serious assault
can i get off or say it was self defense if person pushes me and i push them down and they chip a tooth . i'm i guilty?

Maybe. Self-defense essentially means that a reasonable person would have felt the need to do the same thing in order to protect themself and that the extent of the physical act was necessary for that protection. A mere retaliation is not self-defense.

You can say anything you want. Whether the court or the jury chooses to believe you is another thing entirely.
